Mountrey Odessa Massey Oliver, 66, a beloved mother, aunt, cousin, niece, and friend, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 11, surrounded by her two sons, in the comfort of hospice care.
Born on September 22, 1959, to Theodore and Mountrey Massey in Piscataway, New Jersey, Mountrey was named after the two women who helped shape her life —her mother, Mountrey, and her grandmother, Odessa, both of whom lovingly raised her. From an early age, she was grounded in faith, curiosity, and a deep appreciation for learning. Mountrey’s life was a testament to her unwavering faith in Jesus, her creativity, her compassion for others, and her lifelong commitment to personal growth.
Mountrey was a woman of many talents, interests, and callings. After graduating from Rutgers University, she began her professional career at Johnson & Johnson. She later worked alongside her late husband, helping to support and grow his business, Oltronics. Guided by her entrepreneurial spirit, she went on to establish her own aromatherapy company, Naturally Made. Over the years, Mountrey also served as a beloved English teacher and ESL instructor, and earned licenses as a real estate agent, financial adviser, and insurance provider specialist, touching many lives through her work, mentorship, and service.
In addition to her professional pursuits, Mountrey was deeply creative. She began playing the piano at an early age and went on to write many songs. Among them was her original composition, “One Miracle At A Time,” written for the 2000 Davis–Ellis family reunion, a piece that reflected her faith, hope, and belief in God’s presence in everyday life.
At just seven years old, Mountrey felt a special calling to preach God’s Word—a calling her mother and grandmother immediately nurtured and encouraged. Her love for the Lord gave her a bold and joyful spirit, and she never hesitated to share her faith in Jesus with others. This calling remained central to her life, shaping her words, actions, and relationships.
Above all, Mountrey loved her family deeply. Her greatest concern and enduring prayer was that all whom she loved would come to know salvation. She leaves behind a legacy of faith, love, perseverance, and devotion that will continue to guide those who knew her.
Mountrey was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert Norman Oliver Sr. She is survived by her children Robert Norman Oliver Jr. and his wife, Noriko Hayashi, Matthew Sean Oliver, and Alexandria Mountrey Oliver; brother, Harry Eugene Massey and his wife, Wyona Massey along with a wide circle of family and friends who will forever cherish her memory.
My deepest condolences to the family. May she rest in peace.
Anita Wimberly

To the entire Oliver family, you are all in our prayers. We are heartbroken for your loss.
We fondly remember the outpouring of love Mountrey shared with us each time our paths crossed.
We are so grateful for her deep faith in Jesus and how she shared her love of Him. By His grace, we know in certainty where Mountrey is this day. May we all keep our eyes on Jesus and His Certain Hope that we will celebrate our homecoming with Mountrey and all who have gone before us, one day.
May God’s, Love, Peace and Strength surround each of you.
With love and prayers, Peter & Jane Magill
