DIETZ, Sharon H.

April 3, 1955 - October 16, 2026
SERVICE INFORMATION
Sharon H. (Gillespie) Dietz left this world gentler, kinder, and infinitely brighter than she found it. She passed away peacefully into the arms of Jesus, surrounded by her adoring family whose grief is matched only by the endless love they will forever carry for her. Sharon was a woman of rare grace and exquisite warmth, anchoring her life in unwavering faith and an abundance of sweetness that extended to everyone who crossed her path.
She lived by a profound guiding philosophy: “When I stand before God at the end of my life, I would hope that I would not have a single bit of talent left, and could say, 'I used everything you gave me.'” Sharon devoted her life to spreading kindness, love, and beauty, including her musical talent—playing the clarinet, ringing hand bells, and singing on the church choir and at weddings. She adored Beauty and the Beast, possessing a bright spirit that, like the heroine of her favorite tale, always looked past appearances to find the beauty and good in others.
Sharon shared a spectacular romance with her husband, Michael, for 41 beautiful years. Their connection was an unshakeable love—a tale as old as time that served as the bedrock of their family. Their marriage began with a magical Hawaiian honeymoon, building a house and family together. Their unwavering love, commitment, and devotion to each other no matter what obstacles were thrown their way will continue to inspire their children for generations to come. Together, nothing was insurmountable and they conquered anything.
While Sharon's affection wrapped around many, the ultimate fulfillment, pride, and meaning of her life belonged to her two sons, Joshua and Jacob. As their ultimate cheerleader, Mom supported them through every soccer and basketball game, band and chorus concert, Boy Scout activity, and their shared love for Harry Potter. She raised her sons with Prince Charming chivalry, kindness and strength to believe they were real-life Supermen who could achieve anything they wanted. Her sons absolutely adored her in turn, matching her fierce devotion with an unbreakable love.
Her matriarchal love expanded unconditionally to embrace Gina and Emily, the daughters she never had, whom she cherished with deep closeness and treated as though they were her own. Having Sharon as a mother-in-law was an immense honor and privilege in life and getting to marry a man she raised deserves lifelong gratitude.
Her world sparkled even brighter through the magic of becoming Grammy to her beloved grandchildren, Matteo, Luca, and Hailey. Even up until her last breaths, seeing them brought brightness and warmth to her face. Her grandchildren adored her in turn, never missing an opportunity to climb all over her, snuggle with her with their favorite shows and books, and give her the biggest smiles and hugs.
She was also blessed with an irreplaceable lifelong bond with her sister and best friend, Lynn (Steve) Butz. She also leaves behind treasured sisters- and brothers-in-law Dennis (Nancy) Dietz, Sue (Ted) Lindenmoyer, Denise Edmonds, and Paul W. (Marian) Dietz as well as loving nieces and nephews.
Sharon's life was defined by the magical memories she created with her family, from tradition-filled summer trips to Ocean City, Maryland, to sun-soaked visits to Disney World, gold and cold Steelers games, and super adventures in Metropolis. She found delight in her love for the Peanuts characters, her signature warm and radiant Japanese Cherry Blossom perfume and the shimmering Pandora jewelry charms she collected. Each charm on her wrist was a tangible testament to a milestone, a passion, or a person she adored. Those keepsakes, like her beautiful memory, will remain forever treasured and eternally wrapped in our endless love.
Sharon poured that same immense heart into the world through her selfless career. She devoted over 40 years as a special education teacher – the majority of which were spent in the Parkland School District – until her well-earned retirement. This was a profound ministry of the heart; with immense dedication, she looked past limitations to serve as a fierce advocate and patient teacher to countless children with learning differences and unique abilities.
In her later years, Sharon faced a long and difficult battle with Alzheimer’s disease. Yet, like a rose that refuses to lose its bloom, her serene spirit, her sweetness, and her deep love for her family remained vibrant until the very end. Though our hearts are heavy, we find comfort knowing she is now soaring on eagles' wings, completely healed and reunited in Heaven with her beloved parents, Joan and Gerald Gillespie, her late sister, Susie, her father- and mother-in-law, Paul and Irene Dietz, and countless others in Paradise.
As her family, we know Mom’s light will never be extinguished. Her legacy of kindness lives on through us, embodying the golden rule: to love entirely and to be loved in return. She taught us that love is the one thing in this world that will never die. She lived beautifully, loved entirely, and leaves a legacy that will never fade. She has stood before the Lord, and she has given Him everything.
